How to Use Lyft
- Open the Lyft app from your app drawer.
- Once done, you will be asked to sign up for an account. You will be asked to enter a valid phone number and a valid form of payment.
- Lyft is accepting many forms of payments including a credit card, Lyft Gift card, or link to an Apple Pay, Google Wallet, or PayPal account.
- After setting up your account, it is also important to grant this app access to your phone’s location. This is where the Lyft driver can trace you down to pick you up.
- To request a ride, tap ‘Search destination’ and enter your destination. Simply input your preferred destination and it will show you all the nearby drivers on the given map.
- Choose your ride type by tapping “Select Lyft”. You can view additional ride types, such as Shared, Lux, or Wait & Save. Currently, Lyft offers five types of rides within the app; Shared Ride, Lyft, Lyft XL, Lux, and Lux Black.
- Once done, Passengers can now request a ride from a nearby driver. Once confirmed, the app shows the driver’s name, ratings by past passengers, and photos of the driver and car.
- You can also get the cost upfront and you can quickly decide to accept or decline it.
- You can also add an extra stop by tapping the addresses listed at the top of the screen, then tapping the ‘+’ (plus sign) in between the pick-up location and your destination. You can do this when requesting a ride, before pickup, or any time during your ride.
