How to Use the Roku App

  1. Open the Roku App from your App Drawer.
  2. Sign In using your existing Roku account affiliated with your Roku Device.
  3. If this is your first time using the Roku app, you will have to agree to the terms and services and go through a quick tutorial.
  4. Before you start using the Roku mobile app, check that your mobile device and your Roku device are on to the same wireless network.
  5. When the Roku mobile app launches it will discover any Roku devices on your network. Select the Roku device you wish to control using your Roku mobile app. You will then be taken to the home screen where you will be able to control your Roku device.
  6. Not only can you launch channels, navigate the Roku interface, and search and issue commands with your voice, you can also share personal photos and videos on your TV, listen privately with your headphones, and more.
  7. To turn the app into a remote, tap the Remote icon from the upper right corner of the screen. This will display virtual tap-based buttons that allow you to take full control of your streaming. (You can also choose between the Traditional or Swipe controls for your virtual remote).
  8. To search for Movies or TV shows, head back to the Home screen, select Search, and input your query.
  9. To play Photos and Videos from the phone to your TV using the Roku App, tap the Device icon from the navigation bar. Select your Roku Device from the list, and launch the Play on Roku by tapping the Media icon. You can play photos, videos, and music using this feature.
