How to Use Google Voice
- Open the Google Voice app from your app drawer.
- This app works over a broadband connection that allows you to stay connected either to your home or office network.
- To get started, you will be asked to sign up for an account using your phone number or better yet create one your own. You can simply input your area code and the phone number of your choice.
- Once done, you can now embrace the app’s overwhelming features such as creating voicemail messages, making calls, or use the service to send and receive text messages
- To call someone using Google Voice, simply tap the “Calls” icon at the bottom of the app.
- If the person is in your recent calls list, next to their name, tap Call. Or, you can search them from your contact list or tap the Dial icon and manually input their number.
- To make calls from Google Voice using your mobile carrier, you need to turn on caller ID for your phone. If you turn off caller ID, you can’t make Google Voice calls using your mobile carrier.
- When making outgoing calls using your phone’s dialer app, you can use your Google Voice number instead of your phone’s carrier number. Calls you make from the Voice app always use your Google Voice number.
- When driving, you can put the app on Driving mode.
- The app features cross-platform synchronization allowing you to send and receive individual and group SMS messages from all your devices
