How to Use SoundHound

  1. To start, simply download the SoundHound App from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
  2. Launch the SoundHound app from your app drawer.
  3. The app comes with a simple one-tap button that you can immediately tap when you want to discover the song that is playing in your area.
  4. If you are listening to recorded music, it matches a flexible fingerprint of your sound against a database of recorded music, giving you the fastest, most accurate result possible, even for popular remixes.
  5. To start identifying the song, tap on the “What’s That Song?” button. Once SoundHound is open, an orange rectangular button with “What’s That Song?” and “Tap Here” written on it will appear
  6. Once you see “Listening” displayed on your device’s screen, it means SoundHound can now detect sound and is ready to identify music.
  7. Hold your device towards the music or song you want to identify. Within seconds, you will see the name of the track, its singer, movie/album, and other such information on your screen.
  8. If SoundHound fails to recognize the song and comes back with an error message, just click on the orange “Search Again” button. It might help if you get closer to the source of the music.
  9. Even if you are just humming or singing a part of that song, the app will look on its huge database that matches the tempo, melody, rhythm, or the lyrics
  10. Interestingly, you can also use such features using voice control where each command starts with “Hey SoundHound…” similar to other virtual assistants.
  11. The results may also link you to other streaming apps like Spotify, Pandora, and more. When you already have the result, you can also search for other relevant details including the real-time lyrics that turn this app into a mobile karaoke.
