Messenger Kids

While there are so many messaging apps to enjoy today, not all can be considered child-friendly. Most of these apps come with unrestricted web access which is definitely not safe for kids. Interestingly, Facebook launched Messenger Kids so parents can finally take control of their kid’s messenger account. As what the title suggests, Messenger Kids is an app that is designed for kids. The app works the same with Facebook Messenger but with parental control features. It also comes with colorful and fun filters for kids to enjoy. If you worry that your kids might accidentally engage in an unsafe conversation with strangers or might get access to sites that are not meant for their age, you should definitely consider adding Messenger Kids on their device and make it their default messaging system.

Messenger KidsHow do Messenger Kids work?

Messenger Kids is actually a standalone app that you can download on the device with a core function that allows kids to safely communicate with their family and friends through messages and video calls. Unlike Facebook Messenger though, Messenger Kids doesn’t require your kids to create a separate or individual Facebook account. Simply download the app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App store to get started. Once done, open the app, authenticate the device, and log in using your Facebook account. The app will then ask you to enter your child’s name. Input the information being asked and you are done.

You can then head over to your account on your device and access the parental controls panel for Messenger Kids to set limitations, add friends, keep a check on what your child is doing, and much more. To do so, go to the Facebook app’s settings panel and tap on the “more” option. Click the Messenger Kids option and then tap explore. Messenger Kids features a huge collection of fun and colorful filters for your kids to enjoy. They can also make their conversation more appealing by sending colorful stickers, funny GIFs, emojis, and even a drawing tool to express themselves more creatively. Now that most kids are forced to stay at home in observance of the coronavirus outbreak, many kids and parents find this app absolutely beneficial.
