How to Use Android Auto

  1. The first thing you need to do is to make sure that your car or your stereo is compatible with Android Auto. There are more than 500 models that support Android Auto.
  2. If you have Android 9 or below, get the Android Auto app on your phone. With Android 10, Android Auto is built in—so you don’t need the app to get started.
  3. Launch the app from the app drawer.
  4. Connect your phone to your car with a USB cable and see Android Auto on your dashboard display. Some phones can connect wirelessly. If your car display supports wireless connection, you must pair your phone with your car’s Bluetooth for set-up. After set-up, depending on your car, either the phone will automatically connect or the Android Auto app icon will appear on your car display.
  5. Once the app is connected, you can now access all Android Auto enabled apps. You can now access your favorite music, media, and messaging apps in the car.
  6. With the integration of Google Assistant, you can seamlessly ask the app to perform numerous tasks using only your voice commands.
  7. You can also use Android Auto as a GPS device with the help of Google Navigational products like Google Maps or Waze.
  8. You can listen to your favorite media apps such as Spotify, BBC iPlayer Radio, Google Play Music, Amazon Music, and various Sports and Podcasts channels.
  9. The app allows you to access your contacts folder and send and receive messages with the Google Assistant using SMS, Hangouts, WhatsApp, Skype, Telegram, WeChat, Kik, Google Allo, and many more messaging apps.
