YouTube

Ever since YouTube was launched in 2005, the video-sharing platform has reached an impressive milestone. With over 2 billion active users, the success of YouTube is truly overwhelming. In fact, 79 percent of Internet users have their own YouTube account. The YouTube app is wonderfully optimized for mobile devices that allows you to watch your favorite videos in a more convenient and more accessible way. Much like the browser counterpart, the YouTube app allows users to upload videos, watch, rate, share, add to playlists, leave comments on videos, and subscribe to other users. It has become an effective platform for various content creators to express their talents and creativity.

YouTubeHow YouTube App Works?

I guess everybody knows how the YouTube app works and it doesn’t need much explanation. Most of the Android smartphones already have a pre-installed YouTube app on their device. It is one of the Google products that are installed by default in most mobile devices powered by Android OS along with Google Chrome, Google Maps, Drive, Gmail, and more. If not, you can simply download the app either from the Google PlayStore or Apple Appstore. After downloading the app, you can start watching videos right away but you will be asked to sign in or signup using your Google Account to gain full access to YouTube.

To start watching videos, simply input the details on the search bar. YouTube allows you to see what the world is watching – from the hottest music videos from your favorite artists to what’s currently trending in gaming, entertainment, news, and more. The app comes with 5 major tabs you can freely navigate; Home, Explore, Subscriptions, Inbox, and Library. Your Home dashboard will display various videos from the channels you are subscribed to or some recommendations based on the previous videos you have watched. To see what’s currently trending, visit the Explore page where you can search the hottest videos based on their respective categories; Trending, Gaming, Music, News, Films, and Fashion & Beauty.

The Subscription page will display all the latest videos that are uploaded by channels or creators you are following. It also highlights Stories and Short videos similar to Facebook’s My Day feature. All your notifications such as replies, new subscribers, and updates will be shown in your Inbox. Library, on the other hand, will display your History, Downloaded YouTube videos (videos you can watch even if you are offline), Watch Later videos, videos you have liked, your YouTube Playlist, and many more.

Of course, everybody can upload their own videos and create their own channel. To do so, just tap the Video icon on top of the screen. You can either upload a video from your phone gallery, record a video using the in-app camera, or Go Live to connect with your followers. YouTube also comes with basic video editing tools too. If you have reached the required threshold (number of subscribers and views), you can also start monetizing your content through the YouTube Partnership Program. Through this, you can earn money based on the number of views you get and your account will be integrated with Google Adsense.
